Beaujolais Nouveau launch night – food from the region: November 16th

Thursday 16th November from 7pm

Most red wines are aged for a period in barrel or bottle before release. But Beaujolais Nouveau is different. This fresh, fruity wine from France is sold and enjoyed just weeks after it is produced each autumn, and every year on the third Thursday in November at 12:01am, Beaujolais Nouveau wines are released around the world, ready to drink.

Vin de primeur wines such as this were traditionally drunk by vineyard workers to celebrate the end of the annual harvest, but in the 1950s Beaujolais vignerons started to promote them to consumers. Increasingly, they would compete in a race, seeing who could get them to the Paris bistros the fastest. Now we’re bringing it to Ramsbury! Limited spaces available so please email to book yours today.

£60/pp, including canapes, 4 course meal and ½ bottle wine per person (10% service charge).

Wine and nibbles served from 7pm, with a special menu from the region (see below) served at 7.30pm prompt.

To start – Lyonnaise sausage with lentils and poached egg

Main course – Braised beef Lyonnaise

Dessert – Tarte tatin with vanilla ice cream

St Marcellin cheese to finish
